Imperial Fist Space Marine

I've never really been into garish colour schemes on miniatures. When I paint Sci Fi and fantasy I still like to make the figures look natural. So I thought I'd challenge myself by choosing a bright colour scheme and do my best to make it look believable. I also didn't want to go OTT with the battle damage, which seems to be all the rage these days. So here you go, what do you think?

  1. Nice results. It's a brighter yellow than I've seen for a while and it works very well indeed.

  2. It's not just the bright, it's the combo of bright + deep shading. Looks great, to be honest.

  3. That's really nice Steve, yellow is pretty hard to do well and to make it convincing on space marines armour is also tricky. Did you spray it yellow 1st? Good to know what yellows you use as it is one range of colour I've had bother with.

  4. thanks for your comments chaps!
    Hi Paul
i painted it in a rather long winded way. primed black, then re undercoated the parts i wanted to paint yellow with a few thin coats of white. i then inked in the recesses. followed by at least two coats of foundry yellow B. then highlighted up and some extra shading. usually when painting historical minis i go with foundry ochre instead of yellow as i prefer the more muted effect.
