General de brigade game

I was hoping to host the first game in my new War room the week before Christmas. sadly I still have a way to go (see last post) before I can invite the boys over. Luckily John jumped into the breech and quickly built a table and cracked out his collection of 28mm British and French Napoleonic figures.
We played a game using the General de Brigade rules, which I havnt played for about 8 years and John has never played. I was the brave mighty Brits and John played the dastardly French.
I was ordered to defend a village on the main advance of the French with four battalions, 2 Dragoon regiments and a battery of guns.

the Poles

the highlight of the game (for john) was when i charged with my elite Dragoons, rolling the fabled double 1........ i know i should of brought my own dice.
The Dragoons were then chased off the field, leaving me feeling rather exposed. We ran out of time before before we could conclude proceedings. But I  feel my position was untenable, although my centre was strong I now had no cavalry to cover my eventual retreat.

It was a good fun game, we had to check the rules a good few times and therer is a few points we are still unclear of.
I'm hoping after a couple more games we will be able to keep to the crib sheet.

Congrats to John for winning the last game of the year!

wargames table WIP 1

Well I hope you are all enjoying the festive season!
I have had a bit of time to crack on with my wargames table. as you can see from the photos i still have a long way to go, and they have changed quite a bit from the plans you can see on the last picture.
The sections are 4'x2's and the 6 initial sections will make a nice 8'x6' table later to be expanded to a 12'x6'.
Its the first time i have tried making modular terrain so i am learning as i go along. I am surprisingly really enjoying it! So i hope to bring you a few more shots of my progress soon

Happy new year!!!

Seven years war Hungarian fusiliers. updated pics!

Just a quick (and sadly not to great) pic of a a Hungarian regiment of the seven yeasr war, IR2 Erzherzog Karl to be exact.
A real joy to paint these Crusader minis and they will look great once they are based up!

just  added a few more pics, hopefully slightly better ;o)
I love the expression of the chap on the right, he looks like he's just seen his best mates legs lobbed off by a cannonball..
